Tennessee Welcomes SEMDA 2016!

Since 2004, the Southeastern Medical Device Association (SEMDA) has worked to improve the networks of medical device companies in the southeast and provide them with resources to grow. While its annual conference has drawn hundreds of professionals to SEMDA’s Atlanta headquarters, organizers decided it was high time to “walk the regional walk” and take the conference “on the road.” For the first time in its history this year’s SEMDA Conference, “Making the value case to stakeholders,” will be held in Nashville, May 18 and 19, 2016.

According to SEMDA Executive Director Jason Rupp, encouragement of startups statewide, a robust healthcare economy particularly in medical device innovation and a mutual commitment to regionalism are among the top reasons SEMDA chose Tennessee for its 2016 conference.

The SEMDA 2016 Tennessee Host Committee members would like to extend a hearty welcome to SEMDA and all of its affiliated institutions, member companies, sponsors, entrepreneurs and investors. We are eager to share our culture of hospitality, innovation and our healthcare industry experience with you in May.

Keynote speakers Niall Brennan, Chief Data Officer for the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and Suzanne Belinson, Executive Director of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association Center for Clinical Effectiveness, have recently been announced and new elements are being added to the program almost every day. Medical device startups also have the opportunity to connect with angel investors and VCs one-on-one through PitchRounds.
