Free the Data! Opportunities and Risks Under the New HHS Information Blocking Rule
The HHS Office for the National Coordinator of Health IT issued an interim final rule on October 29, 2020 extending the compliance date for the information blocking rule under the 21st Century Cures Act to April 5, 2021. The rule establishes conditions under which providers, developers of certified health IT, and health information networks and exchanges cannot engage in practices likely to interfere with the access, exchange or use of electronic health information.
With a firm implementation date, the industry will need to complete the work to establish new practices for advancing interoperability goals safely and securely. Join veteran health IT and regulatory lawyers from Bradley for a discussion on the import of the information blocking rule, the emerging compliance framework, and practical steps you can take to prepare your organization for the opportunities and risks ahead.
