NASHVILLE – The Nashville Health Care Council and Washington, D.C.-based Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC) are partnering to showcase the city’s most innovative strategies developed to improve the delivery of health care using health information technology (HIT). The city’s most impressive solutions are invited to apply and present their showcase at the Nashville Health Innovation Exchange during the Council-BPC Forum on Transformation through Innovation on Tuesday, June 19, the fifth event in the Council’s executive-level Health Care Reform Policy Series.
“Long known as a center of health care expertise, Nashville is the ideal location to display some of the country’s most promising delivery innovations enabled by health information technology and supported by federal and state initiatives,” said Council President Caroline Young.
Showcase applicants must demonstrate that their innovation addresses a specific health care need, that it improves quality/safety and improves efficiency in health care delivery. Cost reduction will be considered if it is applicable to the specific innovation.
“Reform policies are clearly driving change and boosting creativity,” said BPC Director of Health Policy Julie Barnes. “These opportunities to foster entrepreneurial activity are making significant improvements in how patient care is administered.”
The deadline to apply for the Showcase is Monday, April 30. Applications will be considered by a panel of evaluators including key health and HIT leaders convened by the Council and BPC.
The Council member-only Forum on June 19 will also host keynote addresses by former Senate Majority Leaders and co-chairs of BPC’s Health Project Tom Daschle and Bill Frist, as well as a panel on how policy impacts HIT innovation. BPC, in collaboration with Seton Healthcare Family, hosted a similar event in Austin last October focusing on workforce development innovations.
