At the Nashville Health Care Council we are honored to have a diverse community of healthcare leaders of every level. As healthcare evolves and grows, so does our Council membership. One way we support building and growing the healthcare talent pipeline is the Leadership Health Care (LHC) program. Leadership Health Care fosters the next generation of healthcare leaders by creating educational and networking opportunities for members. We look to our Leadership Health Care Board of Directors to share their experience and spotlight their achievements to provide lessons and examples of success for the full Nashville Health Care Community.
Meet LHC Board Member, James Porter, Vice President, Provider Partnerships, Monogram Health.
As a program of the Nashville Health Care Council, how has Leadership Health Care influenced your career?
LHC has been instrumental in helping me learn about the vast healthcare ecosystem in our city. Through its programming and relationships, I have grown personally and professionally in ways that continue to serve my career.

Tell us about a professional success story that you’re proud of:
Building programs and products from scratch has always been rewarding. At the Advisory Board, we turned an internal consulting tool into a dashboard project. At Ancore, we started with no clients and built a thriving professional services company. At Monogram, we’re transforming how to care for an incredibly complex patient population.
What inspired you to choose your current career path?
Coming out of college I knew I wanted to stay in Nashville but you won’t catch me playing a guitar so I knew applying my skills to an incredibly complex and overarching industry would be challenging and rewarding. Additionally, I come from a family of entrepreneurs and have always been energized by the new companies and ideas that are incubated in our city.
What has surprised you most about working in the healthcare industry?
Healthcare is a much smaller community than expected. I regularly run into former colleagues, clients, and friends in our industry.
If you could go back in time and give yourself one piece of advice before entering the industry, what would it be?
It’s never to early to build and maintain relationships with colleagues and managers.
How have you built confidence and/or resiliency over the course of your career?
Looking back on past successes of my own or of friends while knowing the obstacles faced in the moment always helps me stay the course during challenging times and projects.
