LHC Members Tour Saint Thomas Hospital’s Unity System
by Nashville Health Care Council | Nov 28, 2012

As part of Leadership Health Care’s ongoing “Industry Tour Series,” members of LHC were given an inside look at Saint Thomas Hospital’s Unity System on Tuesday. Launched in 2012, the Unity System is the first fully-integrated neurosurgical center of its kind in the United States for treating brain tumors. It includes the newest imaging and treatment technologies to seamlessly create a virtual operating room where physicians join together and work in real-time as a unified team to determine the best treatment plan for the patient, even the most complicated brain cancer and tumor cases.

The tour included an overview of the Brainlab Brainsuite, a state-of-the-art neurosurgical environment that integrates high field intraoperative MRI imaging, computer assisted planning, stereotactic image guided navigation, video conferencing and data networking.

In addition to the private tour, members heard remarks from Saint Thomas Hospital president and CEO Dawn Rudolph and co-medical directors of the Brain and Spine Tumor Center at Saint Thomas Hospital, Dr. Steven Abram and Dr. Paul Rosenblatt.
