NashvilleHealth Launches #MaskForNash #ÚselaPorNash

Alongside partners from across the community, NashvilleHealth today announced the launch of #MaskForNash or #ÚselaPorNash – a community-wide effort to encourage citizens to care for our hometown by wearing a mask or cloth face covering when in public.

“In the absence of a vaccine or cure, wearing a mask is our best protection against the spread of the coronavirus,” says Senator Bill Frist, M.D., founder and chairman of NashvilleHealth. “Wearing a mask is a simple act of support for Nashville and our neighbors. It is the most important thing we as individuals can do to help re-open our city and put us on the road toward recovery.”

#MaskForNash/#ÚselaPorNash logos are being made available in easy-to-download formats to all businesses, organizations and individuals that want to join the movement. The logos can be added to websites, shared on social media, used in email signatures, printed and placed on doors and windows to show support for our city. They are available free of charge in both English and Spanish at nashvillehealth.org/maskfornash.

#MaskForNash/#ÚselaPorNash logos are popping up this week with partners from across the city who are joining NashvilleHealth in lending their support, including the Nashville Health Care Council, Nashville Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Jarrard Phillips Cate & Hancock, Conexión Américas and the Nashville LGBT Chamber.

“The Nashville Health Care Council supports the effort to increase mask wearing in and around Nashville. While health care companies and front-line workers continue to fight the spread of COVID-19, mask wearing will protect those we care about and benefit the greater Nashville community. We’re all in this together,” said Hayley Hovious, president of the Nashville Health Care Council.

Yuri Cunza, president of the Nashville Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce added, “Our community has been hit very hard by COVID-19, and we cannot ignore that impact on our families and our livelihoods. We all miss normalcy. But, it’s important to remember that this won’t last forever, and the simple act of wearing a mask can help us get back to doing the things we love.”

“We need to change the narrative around mask wearing from one that has taken a negative tone, to one that reminds us of the positive benefit when we all do our part,” says Molly Cate, partner with Jarrard Philips Cate & Hancock. “We believe that this is the right thing to do – whether you’re on the frontlines at a hospital, going out to dinner with friends, or contemplating a return to school. We all play a part to support one another.”
