Startup Company Q&A: MyHealthDirect

Startup Company Q&A: MyHealthDirect

Brad Veach, Marketing Manager

Q: What is MyHealthDirect?
A: Our mission is to make access to health care easier by empowering care networks with digital care coordination solutions that are available on the web, at call centers and at provider offices.

Q: Who are your customers?
A: We sell to both providers and payers, such as our client Humana. We sell to health plans, but patients are the end users who benefit greatly with an enhanced patient experience.

You can book your hotel, flight and dinner reservation online; but you can’t book your doctor’s appointment. With our solution, you can.

Q: What have you learned from Startup Day Nashville and working with HHS?
A: Some of our customers are on Medicaid and Medicare Advantage. From Startup Day Nashville, we have a better understanding of those customers, how to better meet their needs and how we can better present our solution that speaks to them.

Q: How much has the government impacted your business model?
A: The introduction of value-based care models has had a profound impact on our business because it has brought our goal – making access to care easier for all people – more in line with what the government is pushing. Because they are incentivizing value-based contracts, the payers and providers are being pushed along toward this common goal.

Q: What benefits have you seen from Nashville’s innovative health care community?
A: This health care community has been great. After starting the company in Milwaukee a few years ago, we decided to move to Nashville. It was a core strategic business move that put us right in the middle of it all. Since then, we’ve picked up local customers as well as national customers that are based here. It’s great to be able to walk down the street and have impromptu lunch meetings in your own backyard.

Q: What does the future look like for MyHealthDirect?
A: The future looks bright. We have a really strong team – 55-strong in Nashville – and we’re getting stronger every day. We’re hiring from sales to marketing to development, and we are looking to continue growing our team to better serve our current customers while expanding to new ones as well.
