Taking A Closer Look: Insurance Exchange Marketplaces and the Affordable Care Act
by Nashville Health Care Council | Oct 18, 2013

On Wednesday, the Nashville Health Care Council’s Leadership Health Care group hosted a Fundamentals Series program titled “Taking A Closer Look: Insurance Exchange Marketplaces and the Affordable Care Act” with Brian Haile, senior vice president for health care policy at Jackson Hewitt. Haile is responsible for the planning and execution of Jackson Hewitt’s ACA programs across the country.

His insightful remarks centered on the finer points of what we can expect from the implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), specifically from a tax perspective. The discussion covered several provisions of the legislation, including Medicaid expansion, tax credits and the formation of insurance marketplaces. He also talked about the future of employer health coverage and models being developed to streamline the system.

Haile credited the State of Tennessee for its work on bridging the gaps on ACA regulations and noted the importance of understanding the population who will be served by the marketplace and potential Medicaid expansion.

Prior to joining Jackson Hewitt, Haile served as the director of the Insurance Exchange Planning Initiative of Tennessee. He previously served as the deputy director for the public employee group health plans in Tennessee and the eligibility chief for the District of Columbia’s Medicaid program.

LHC’s Fundamentals Series introduces participants to a wide range of key health care industry topics that are relevant to up-and-coming industry leaders. For more information about Leadership Health Care, visit www.leadershiphealthcare.com.
