When CHS acquires rural hospital company Triad Hospitals, it adds more than 50 facilities and nearly doubles in size. It is one of several major acquisitions CHS will make on its path to becoming the nation’s largest rural hospital company.
The $6.97-billion deal comes eight years after Triad is spun off from HCA. Many Triad leaders land in other major roles — notably, division president Chris Holden, who is named CEO and president of AmSurg, and former Triad CEO Denny Shelton, who becomes chairman of Legacy Hospital Partners.
The acquisition includes subsidiary Quorum Health Resources, LLC (QHR), a hospital management and consulting company with approximately 150 independent community hospital clients.
