Founded by former HCA execs Joey Jacobs and Bryce DeHaven, PSI owns and operates psychiatric hospitals and clinics. The company will go on to be the largest of its kind after many acquisitions.
In 2005, the company will buy the psychiatric properties of Behavioral Healthcare Corp. Five years later, in 2010, Universal Health Services announces its purchase of the behavioral health organization for $3.1 billion.
After PSI is acquired, Jacobs goes on to serve as chairman and CEO of Acadia Healthcare, where he oversees another aggressive national expansion campaign.
