Serial entrepreneur Marty Rash, coming off selling his Province Healthcare to LifePoint for more than $1 billion, forms a new rural hospital company. The move is funded by a $300 million investment from Warburg Pincus.

This move is reflective of the serial entrepreneurial nature for which Nashville has developed a reputation.

Two years later, RegionalCare buys cross-town competitor Essent Healthcare. The combined revenue is around $1.5 billion.
