The merger of Dallas-based Triad Hospitals Inc. and Quorum Health Group combines two HCA spinoffs and creates one of the largest hospital companies in the country. The $1.4-billion move reunites two former HCA execs: Quorum CEO Jim Dalton and Triad CEO Dan Moen.
Triad will eventually be purchased by Community Health Systems in 2007 for $5.1 billion. The hospital management division, however, still operates out of Nashville as Quorum Health Resources (QHR).
