A vision of Dr. David Karzon’s, chairman of pediatrics at the time, the development of Children’s Regional Medical Center creates the only major children’s hospital for the nearly 400 miles between Memphis and Knoxville.
The creation of the hospital changed the face of Middle Tennessee’s health care delivery system, has brought some of the nation’s top talent to our city and put Vanderbilt on the national pediatric health care map.
Today, Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt is a nationally recognized organization whose doctors, surgeons and researchers are finding new ways to cure and prevent childhood diseases.
